Weekly Dragon Update May 21 – 25

Dragon Update for May 21 – 25

We wish all of our Dragon families a wonderful Victoria Day weekend! Our wish is that you are able to spend some time with family and friends and squeeze in some rest and relaxation as well!

EQAO Testing

Over the next couple of weeks our Grade 3 and 6 students will be writing the EQAO test.  This standardized test is to aid educators as they work to improve classroom instruction and overall elementary education in Ontario. It helps form policy and it helps schools identify challenges in their school improvement plans.   The St. Dominic staff has been working very hard to prepare your son/daughter for this test. In addition, the students have also been working very hard to practice their skills and work through problems to support their learning. To help support your son/daughter with completion of the test, parents please ensure that your child is on time and well nourished for the writing days.  We appreciate your support!

Jump Rope for Heart

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday morning – outside enjoying the sun while participating in various physical activities to get our hearts moving, all while raising funds for Jump Rope for Heart!  The students really enjoyed the activities and the Intermediate leaders were great as they led the younger students through the various stations. A special thanks goes to Mr.s Campbell and Mrs. Hambleton for organizing this event.

Stemmler’s Parent Pick Up

Thank you for all of the support with our Spring Stemmler’s Meats Fundraiser.  Many of you have already started to enjoy your tasty treats. Just a reminder that the Parent Pick Up Day is on Tuesday May 22nd from 3:30 – 6:00pm.  We ask that all parents who have yet to receive their orders, please come by during this time to pick up.  Again we thank you for your support.

STEM Night – Great success!

What a wonderful event hosted by our School Council for our parent community.  We had over 200 people in attendance explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math learning through the use of activities.  Families were given the opportunity to crash cars, make gliders, check out germs, create circuits and have a ton of fun! The night was facilitated by our friends from the University and everyone had a wonderful time.  Special thank you to the organizers and volunteers who helped ensure the event was a success!
