Tuesday, February 13th, the staff, parent volunteers and students will be serving pancakes to the entire school for Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent.
We wish to commence the Lenten season by demonstrating community, responsible leadership and service on Shrove Tuesday by preparing this special treat. Pancakes will be served with syrup. Each class will be invited into the gym, where students will be served at different times of the day. The pancakes are a “treat” not a lunch replacement. Students who bring a lunch to school need to bring a lunch on this day as well. If your child has an allergy to pancake mix and syrup, please be sure to inform their classroom teacher to make alternate arrangements.
We are asking all students to please bring in a PLATE and UTENSILS for their pancakes. By reducing the amount of garbage, we can continue to be stewards of the environment. Please put your plate and utensils in a Ziploc!
We look forward to preparing this special treat and sharing it with your child, but we need your help in order to make this a successful day! If you are available to help prepare pancakes, please join us Tuesday morning in the staffroom. Pancake preparations begin at 8:00am for any volunteers who can make it early. Or, join us to begin cooking after dropping your child(ren) off at school that morning! We’re looking forward to another delicious pancake morning for the students to enjoy!
