PA DAY, Friday, April 13 and Earth Week Begins Monday, April 16

There will be no school for students this Friday, April 13th, 2018.
Our staff will be working on Ministry of Education priorities.

St. Dominic Savio Catholic School has always supported efforts to help take care of our home planet, Earth. For many years, our school community has cleaned up the school yard and community path, planted trees and wildflowers and collected donations for issues such as “clean water” for our community and the world.

This year, the world-wide day for the earth, Earth Day, is scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd.
Due to the fact we are not at school on Earth Day, our school community will celebrate it on Friday April 20th with lots of fun events planned!

On Friday April 20th we will celebrate “Earth Day” as a school by:
1.  Dressing in “Earth Colours” – Blue and Green to show our support and love of our great planet.
2.  We will be actively cleaning up the school yard and community path. In the morning, all students will get a glove to safely pick up garbage that is present on our yard. IF YOU WISH TO BRING YOUR OWN RE-USABLE GLOVES (LIKE GARDENING GLOVES) TO USE FOR THE CLEAN-UP, it would be greatly appreciated. The Earth would say, “Thank you” too!
3.  During lunch, we ask that students bring a litter less lunch so that minimal garbage is created during our “Earth Day”.
4.  The last activity of the afternoon is for each classroom to “power down” for the hour of 1pm until 2pm. At this time, each classroom will use minimal or no electrical energy (if possible).

For the “Used Battery Drive”, place your used batteries in a Ziploc bag, bring the batteries to school
and place them in the designated boxes in the front hallway.
Wednesday, April 18th until Wednesday, April 25th, 2018.
