Dragon Update for November 18-22
The Umbrella Project Theme for November: Growth Mindset
The new Umbrella Project Theme for the month of November is Growth Mindset. Having a growth mindset (the belief that you are in control of your own ability, and can learn and improve) is the key to success. Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny. The attached link is to an article that will help to help teach Growth Mindset to your child(ren).
Remembrance Day Observation
The St. Dominic CES Remembrance Day Observation was a memorable event for our students, staff, and parents who were able to join us. It reminded us of the many blessings we have in our lives and to always remember the sacrifices that were/are being made for us to enjoy the many freedoms we have. A big Thank You goes out to Ms. Shermeto, Mlle Tank, and their students for putting together this reverent assembly.
We are very excited to have had our first batch of Wall Tattoos installed on Friday. These images are the result of many discussions and collaboration amongst our staff members. The process began with discussing what the staff thought were some of our St. Dominic core beliefs and where they thought these statements should best be posted. We believe the result is awesome and will serve as daily reminders to our students, staff, and school visitors. A big Thank You goes out to our Catholic School Council for making this project possible.
Grade 4 Bible Celebration
The Grade 4 students from Ms. Kohler’s, Ms. Hutter’s, and Ms. Lee’s classes took part in their Bible Celebration last week. Father Steve presided over a beautiful ceremony as each student received their bible in front of family and friends. Thanks goes out to all families who provided food and drink to be shared after the ceremony. As well, a heartfelt Thank You goes out to Father Steve for being part of this important celebration. Well done Dragons!
Now that Winter Weather has arrived, please make sure that your child(ren) come to school properly dressed for the weather. Winter coats, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots are necessary to keep the students warm during recess. For those younger students, a second pair of mitts would be a good ideas as well. Happy Winter!
Can you solve these puzzles?
Add me to myself and multiply by 4. Divide me by 8 and you will have me once more. What number am I?
There is a three digit number. The second digit is four times as big as the third digit, while the first digit is three less than the second digit. What is the number?
