Lenten Message

As we await Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday, please take the time to discuss Lent with your family. A great resource to start the conversation is in the following link:

Busted Halo is a great site to visit for many helpful and informative videos about our Faith.

Welcome Back: We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable March Break with your family. We are now in the home stretch of the year and June will be here before you know it!

Technology and Your Student: Some parents have been asking about some resources to support them in dealing with issues their family is having with the use of technology and how it is interrupting their family dynamic. The attached resource will help you with this topic.

Shrove Tuesday: Special Thank you to our parents who have volunteered to help with Pancakes. It was a great day and all enjoyed their special treat! A special shout out to our intermediate students who graciously served up this delicious breakfast!

Ash Wednesday The St. Dominic Savio school community celebrated Ash Wednesday before March Break. Thank you to Deacon Basil for officiating and challenging us to pray more, sacrifice more, and give more during this Lenten Season, as we prepare for Jesus’ Resurrection.

School Climate Survey for Parents As you may know, the WCDSB has a Ministry requirement to conduct a School Climate Survey every 2 years for students, staff and parents. Students will be completing their survey at school. Parents are asked to follow the instructions included in the link below to complete their survey. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the school.

Our Board’s New Pastoral Plan: Called to Belong  WCDSB’s new pastoral plan was unveiled last month with a celebration at St. Daniel Parish. The board’s new plan is outlined in the video attached at the following link:

Beach Day: Thank You to our awesome Student Council for hosting our Beach Day extravaganza! From the looks of the outfits and the sounds of the music, everyone enjoyed themselves during this great theme day. It was a great reminder that sunnier days are on the horizon!

Intermediate Girls’ Volleyball and Boys’ Basketball Congratulations goes out to the Intermediate Girls’ Volleyball team and the Boys’ Basketball Team who represented St. Dominic at the Regional Championships. The girls and boys fought hard, were great sports and had terrific enthusiasm. You made us all proud and you should also be proud of your accomplishments! Way to go Dragons!

Farewell!  Farewell goes out to Mrs. Hambleton as she began her Maternity Leave before the March Break. We all wish her well, as Mrs. H and her family await the birth of their child.

March Umbrella Theme

We continue to explore the Umbrella themes each month and students are starting to build their own personal umbrellas – being able to use various strategies to help them deal with struggles they may face in their lives.  Throughout the month of March, we will be exploring the theme of Autonomy. Take a minute to read the attached article that can be found at the link below. It has some great activities for your children around Autonomy.

Math Matters!

Can you solve this?
