Collection of Student Belongings

Parents and students came to school this past week on Thursday and Friday to collect their belongings that had been left in the school since before March Break. This was a great opportunity for staff to say Hello and see their students one last time before summer. Thanks to all who came out! There are still some bags to be collected. If you were not able to collect your students’ belongings and would like to, please contact the school office to arrange as anything leftover by Wednesday is going to be donated to charity. Here are a couple of pictures from the pickup.

St. Dominic Savio Beacon of Hope

Congratulations goes out to Bryce Noonan, who was awarded the Beacon of Hope award. Webster’s Dictionary defines a beacon as a source of light or inspiration; a lighthouse or other signal for guidance. Hope is defined as someone or something on which hopes are centred; a promise of good things to come. Bryce embodies these definitions to a tee. Thanks for being such an inspiration and beacon of light for others, Bryce!

Grade 8 and Kindergarten Graduation Pictures

Unfortunately due to the school closure, graduation photos were not taken for either the Grade 8s or the Year 2 Kindergarten students. We have been in contact with Lifetouch regarding these pictures and they are able to take Graduation Photos for these students at their studio in Kitchener. If interested, please contact their office to book a time with them for a sitting.

Grade 8 Virtual Graduation

The Grade 8s are getting ready for their Virtual Graduation which will take place on Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:30 PM. Lots of preparation has gone into the ceremony and we cannot wait to see them on their virtual Graduation Night!

Farewell!

We wish Mr. Setler, Ms. Hutter, Ms. Koenig, Mrs. Ceccomancini and Mlle Chaves a fond farewell.  They have served our St. Dominic community with fortitude and grace.  We have been so blessed by their spirit and tenacity this year.  We wish you a great journey ahead and hope that you will be back to visit us…lots and lots!  Please know that you have made a difference in the lives of the students here at St. Dominic’s.

Welcome to the Dragon’s Den!

We would like to welcome Mr. Gary Litschgy, who will be the new Vice Principal taking over for Mr. Setler. As well, we would like to welcome Ms. Gabriela Guerrero, who will be joining our Early Years division, and Ms. Cherise Dear, who will be teaching Grade 6. Please make sure to say hello and welcome our new staff members when you see them!

School in September

As you may have heard, school in September is probably going to be different than Septembers of the past. The Ministry of Education stated yesterday that there are 3 possible scenarios for return to school in the fall, with no concrete plans yet established. Please continue to monitor our school website and Newswire for the latest news as it becomes available.

Report Cards

Final Report Cards are going to be distributed a little differently this year. They are going to be mailed out this year instead of the usual student pick up during the last week. Keep checking the mailbox for this special delivery!

Summer Wishes

We would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all of the families who are part of the St. Dominic Savio School Community. Even though this year did not end off the way that we had hoped it would, the Dragon Nation has emerged from the last 3 months of teacher-led distance learning stronger than ever. Staff, students and parents exhibited grit, resilience, fortitude and strength. All should be commended on a job well done! We hope that the next 2 months over some rest, relaxation, and much needed recharging of batteries. We look forward to greeting you again with open arms in the fall, however it may look. Until then, here is short End of School Prayer.

See you in September!
