Let Summer Begin…

The last day of school is almost over, and we wanted to take the opportunity to say Thank You to our AWESOME St. Dominic Savio Dragon School Community.

We wish your family a summer filled with an abundance of relaxation, peace and joy. Mr. Setler and I are delighted to share that we will continue to serve the St. Dominic School community as your administrative team for the 2019/20 school year.  The staff and I look forward to learning and growing alongside your child(ren) and building on the strong foundation already in place. Unfortunately, we have to bid farewell to some staff members who will not be back with us in the fall. We bid Adieu to Mrs. MacKay, Mrs. Coelho, Mrs. Monteiro, Mr. Sepahi, Mr. Raos, Ms. Bernad and Mrs. Detzler. We also bid farewell (for next year) to Mme Acx who is going to take the year off to do some traveling with her family. We wish all of them nothing but the best in their new roles and we look forward to our paths crossing again!

We have also attached a letter to this message outlining our procedures for next year. We will not be doing a Sneak Peek on the last Wednesday in August. We are going paperless and moving fully online for 2019-20 school year.   Each family will receive an email notification on Wednesday, August 28th regarding your child(ren)’s class assignment. This email notification will prompt you to go to Cash Online where you will be able to view your child(ren)’s class assignment.  If you are not registered for Cash Online, we strongly encourage you to do so otherwise you will be unaware of your child’s classroom teacher in advance.  Please see the attached letter at the following link for all of the details.

Weekly Dragon Update: June 24-28

June 24- June 28

Congratulations Mrs. Coelho!
St. Dominic Savio CES wishes a Happy Retirement to Mrs. Coelho! You are going to be missed by all here. We are so happy for you and wish you all the best in your well deserved retirement. You have been a huge presence here and always went over and above for your students. Thank You for all that you have done for the St. Dominic Savio school community.

June Umbrella Theme

We continue to explore the Umbrella themes each month and students are starting to build their own personal umbrellas – being able to use various strategies to help them deal with struggles they may face in their lives.  Throughout the month of June, we will be exploring the theme of Hope/Mastery. Take a minute to read the attached article that can be found at the link below. It has some great activities for your children around Hope/Mastery.

End of Year Mass

Staff and students celebrated our End of Year Mass with Father on Friday. Students were called to be joyful disciples and to continue their faith journey this summer.

Farewell!

We want to wish Mr. Sepahi, Ms. Detzler, Ms. Bernad, Mrs. Monteiro and Mrs. Coelho a fond farewell.  They have served our St. Dominic community with fortitude and grace. We have been so blessed by their spirit and tenacity this year.  We wish you a great journey ahead and hope that you will be back to visit us…lots and lots! Please know that you have made a difference in the lives of the students here at St. Dominic’s.

Junior Girls and Boys 3 Pitch

Congratulations goes out to the Junior Girls’ and Boys’ 3 Pitch Teams who competed this past week in their tournaments. Both teams were fantastic ambassadors for St. Dominic Savio and left everything on the field. A big Thank You goes out to the coaches, Ms. Buck, Mlle Tank and Mr. Jolly, for their hard work getting our athletes prepared!

Family Fun Night

Even though the night was cool and wet, this did not dampen the spirits of the staff and families who came out for our annual Family Fun Night on Thursday. There was lots of fun, food and festivities for all. Everyone enjoyed themselves despite the rain. A huge Thank You goes out to the St. Dominic School Council for their hard work in putting together this fantastic night!

Report Cards

Just a reminder that Term 2 Report Cards go home on Tuesday. Please make sure to review them with your child(ren) and return the signed back page to school as soon as possible.

Mary Poppins

The St. Dominic Cast and Crew of “Mary Poppins” presented their version of this classic play on Wednesday June 19 (for parents) and June 20 (for students). It was a fantastic production and the students out did themselves. Thanks goes out to Ms. Buck, Mlle Tank and Ms. Detzler for their hard work with the cast and crew!
