Easter Food Drive Ends Tomorrow

St Dominic Savio’s  Easter Food Drive and Toiletries Collection Campaign ends tomorrow, Thursday, March 29th, 2018.

As a school, we have been collecting non-perishable food items (i.e. soup, jam, pasta, rice) for families in need in our community. All of the food we collect during the Food Drive will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul unit (at St. Mark’s Church) where it will be distributed to those in need. (Please remember not to send any food products with nuts in them due to allergies).

New toiletries will also be collected for children and adults during our Toiletries Collection Campaign. Toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotion, hair brushes and toothbrushes are just a few examples of things they pass out to individuals in our community as well as food. St. Vincent de Paul will collect all the food and toiletries and they will distribute them to specific families and individuals in the area.

Please send in non-perishable food items or NEW toiletries by tomorrow morning,  March 29th.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and your help in making our Easter Food Drive and Toiletries Collection Campaign a success!

Sliming of Mr. R and Mrs. Papp!

Due to the amazing fundraising efforts of our Dragons, Mr. R and Mrs. Papp were SLIMED!  Thanks to everyone that supported this creative venture and in helping support our school fundraiser!

Math Riddle of the Week!

Try your luck at solving the puzzle below!

Lenten Promises

We are in the midst of Lent and are reminded that this time is one of sacrifice.  Listed below are some Lenten Activities that you can try with your family at home.

Links of Love
Help children brainstorm simple ways to make helpful and meaningful contributions to family, school, and parish life. Every time someone cheerfully serves or helps another, the child can make that act of love concrete by adding a link to a Love Chain. Have children decorate their links. Use the Love Chain to decorate a room for Easter.

Lenten Promise Posters
Help children brainstorm a list of ways that they can change their lives during Lent to become more like Jesus. Invite children to choose one or two ideas that they will do this Lent. Then have children make posters to remind them of their Lenten promises. Have children display them where they will be seen each day.

Pray the Rosary
The Rosary is a great prayer to pray during Lent. Take the time to pray the rosary with your family during the Lenten season.

Illustrating Jesus’ Journey
Distribute art supplies. Instruct children to make their own illustration of Jesus overcoming temptation in the desert. When children have finished, display children’s work where they can see.

Dates to Remember!

Dragon Update for March 5 – 9

Dance-a-thon Update!

A big congratulations goes to you Dragons, for raising an additional $125.00 to bring our total raised to $7500.00!  This means that Mr. Runstedler and Mrs. Papp will be getting slimed!  The “sliming” will take place this Wednesday during our Student of the Month Assembly.   Way to go Dragons!!

FITGO Challenge a great success!

All week the students of St. Dominic participated in the FITGO challenge.  Students participated in challenges that included physical activity, healthy eating and a healthy environment.  Students were trying new foods, drinking lots of water in reusable bottles and were moving their bodies as they tried out new fun games in gym class or out on the yard.  We will not stop making a commitment to being FIT in our minds, bodies and souls!

Skills Canada

Congratulations to our 25 Dragons who competed in Skills Canada this past week. It was a delight to watch as our Dragons put on an awesome display of Collaboration, Critical thinking, Creativity and Character.
