Sacrament of Reconciliation

Good afternoon,

We are looking forward to welcoming Father Murray, Father Raphael, and Father Earl to St. Dominic’s tomorrow morning as our students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this Advent season. Take some time to speak to your children about how they can at time make better choices and how they may have hurt someone’s feelings, so they feel comfortable speaking with a priest. Our older students should know the Act of Contrition; we have included it below and what confession will look like for those who may need a refresher.

Sacramental Confession

(Greet Father politely, and make the sign of faith)

Father will invite you to say your confession.

Say – “Bless me Father, for I have sinned.

It has been (1 year/2 years) since my last confession and these are my sins…

(A good examination of conscience considers all areas of our lives—our thoughts and words, what we have done, and what we have failed to do, for God, for others and for ourselves.)

For these and all my sins,

I am truly sorry.

The priest will offer words of encouragement, give penance and invite you to pray an Act of contrition.

Act of Contrition

Say – “God, I am sorry for all my sins.

I will sincerely try to do better.

Please help me to walk by your light.”

The priest will extend their hand and give you absolution and when they raise their hand over you, you accept the blessing by making the sign of the cross at the same time.

The priest will invite you to, “Go in the peace of Christ”

Say “Thanks be to God”

Move to the prayer area to say your penance.

Spirit wear coming home!

Hello St Dominic families! Your child will be coming home with a St Dominic spirit wear t-shirt today 🙂  We hope you love it! This ensures ALL students have an opportunity to demonstrate their Dragon pride each Wednesday.  We will be sending home information to order more Dragon gear, but ensuring everyone has at least one was very important to us.  Please wear this t-shirt every Wednesday and let’s show everyone how amazing our school is!
